Tony J,

When you find a vacant house, write the address down and go to the court house in your county. When you get to the court house, go to the Recorders office and give them the address. They will look it up and tell you who the owner is.

An easier way to get this info is to either call the Assessor's Office at your local court house and ask them to tell you over the phone who the owner is OR better yet...if your Assessor's Office or Recorders Office is online you can get all of this info from the convenience of your computer. For example, here is the link to our assessor's office online:   http://www.co.champaign.il.us/ccao/assessor.htm

Hope this helps!
